Our
Directors

Wolfbrook Property Management was founded in 2015 by Steve Brooks and James Cooney.

They felt a need for a specialised property management company that would provide clients with a service level that exceeded the industry norm. Having both built large property portfolios over the years, James and Steve wanted to offer same level of care for their clients’ properties as they would expect for their own.

They set about bringing together the right team of people to deliver their vision, and Wolfbrook Property Management was born.

The origins of our name

“Little wolf by the water”

The name Wolfbrook reflects the personal connection of its two directors, James Cooney and Steve Brooks.

It all started when James read a book by a founder of the world-renowned hedge fund, Blackstone. Intrigued by the way the name Blackstone combined the surnames of its two founders, James wanted to delve deeper.

He started by exploring the Gaelic origins of his own surname and discovered that the name ‘Cooney’ is derived from the Gaelic word ‘Cuan’, meaning ‘little wolf’. James immediately felt a strong resonance with the strength and resilience associated with wolves.

At the same time, Steve Brooks was exploring the roots of his surname. He discovered that Brooks is derived from the Swedish surname Bäckland, which means ‘a body of water’. This inspired the idea of a wolf by the water, evoking the image of a powerful yet grounded presence.

Hence, Wolfbrook was created. Arising from a personal connection and shared values, the name Wolfbrook speaks to the strength, resilience, and groundedness of their company, and the principles that guide their work.
